We are so thrilled to chat with Sara Yao, author of Drop In: Lead with Deeper Presence and Courage. She shared a few fun facts and gave us a sneak peak into her workspace!

Whatā€™s on your nightstand-

I have two books ā€“ one is You Before Me, by Jojo Moyes ā€“ this one is for pure pleasure. Itā€™s my ā€œtake me somewhere else that is light and sweetā€ book. Then Iā€™m also reading The Art of Stillness by Pico Iyer. This is my, ā€œremember the truthā€ book that reminds me of the power of listening and silence. I almost always have two books that seem like dichotomies, and that is pretty descriptive of who I am in the world.

What would you take on Survivor-

My whole family is slightly obsessed with survival shows like Naked and Afraid and Running Wild with Bear Grylls. We have a Bear Grylls survival knife that has a fire starter, sharp knife and rope holder all included, so hands down, thatā€™s what I would bring. That and lip balm if I could!

Where is your fav place to write_

We recently built a little ā€œshe-shedā€ as my office. Itā€™s a separate little building that is all mine and itā€™s a whopping ten steps from the house. Iā€™m amazed at how much I love all 120 sq. feet and how it doesnā€™t feel too small at all. I walk in and immediately feel Iā€™m in my sanctuary. Itā€™s where I do my best writing and meditating.

What do you hear form readers-

I most often hear how ā€œcomfortingā€ or accessible my books feel. I have a lot of readers tell me they almost felt me sitting talking with them and that they felt more peaceful after reading my books. If books are energy, then I think they are receiving a bit of the accessible, zen energy I put out into the world.

Who are your favorite authors-

My favorite authors are all over the place and include Adyashanti, Eckhart Tolle, Elizabeth Gilbert, Gay Hendricks and Phillipa Gregory.
