Introducing – Where I Write!

Where I Write – Sarah Nicole Smetana

Most days, I don’t have a lot of time two write—just two or three hours in the morning, before I go to my day job. So while I can write in a cafĆ© or any number of other public places (and occasionally do so with friends on the weekend), more often than not, I write from my living room at home.

My husband and I share a one-bedroom Brooklyn apartment, so I don’t have an office, or even a real designated space. I do have a desk though, one that sits directly below our TV, often cluttered with papers and notebooks, novels I’ve read recently or am currently reading, a coffee mug that slowly drains as outside the sky grows light. When it’s cold, I’ll shift over to the sofa, work huddled beneath a blanket. Nearby, my bookshelf brims with inspiration.

Because my husband leaves for work before I get up at 6:30 to write, those morning hours are all mine. And in a way, the entire apartment becomes my office.

Or, rather, mine and my cat’s.
