Introducing – Where I Write!

Where I Write – Jennifer Jones

If I’m being entirely honest, I write everywhere; in parking lots, elevator rides, drive-thru lines, and most spaces in-between. However, when I’m not on the move and really sit down to give my time to it, I always write by a window. To explain, my partner and I have moved three times over the last 3 and a half years, so I have had to redefine my writing space, often. The only thing that has remained a constant in my writing & editing spaces are windows, there is something so inspiring about the way the sun cuts through a room and chooses what to shine on. The way it provides all the light you could ever need and when it’s the right hour you can see details of a room that you didn’t even know were there.

I find that the combination of sitting at my table, by the window, with music playing, and curtains open provides the perfect setting for me to get creative. The thing that helps get my mind moving the most is listening to music performed in another language. Listening to music in a language I am not familiar with actually allows to me to write my own stories to the music through what I think I hear. The sounds and melodies provide the building blocks to create my own narratives and take the pressure away from starting with a truly ā€œblankā€ page.
