Introducing āĀ Where I Write!
Where I Write ā Bette Lee Crosby
Some authors can bang out a bestseller from wherever they happen to beāsquished into an airplane seat, camped out in a hotel room, or sitting in a crowded coffee shop. Not me. I often conceive my stories in such places, but when it comes to the nuts and bolts of writing, I do my best work at home in my office.
My office is smallātiny actuallyābut itās crammed full of the things I love. Books. Pictures of friends and family. Souvenirs of fun times. Just outside my window is a giant oak tree, a colorful patch of flowers, and a fountain. Here in Florida we have sunshine almost every day so I throw open my window and listen to the splash of the fountain and a symphony of birdsong. In this peaceful environment with few distractions, I am able to let myself be transformed into the characters I write about.

A comfy chair, a working laptop, and my trusty sidekick about to squeeze into her favorite spot under my deskā¦what more could an author ask for?

Along the wall behind me is my take-a-break sofa and bookshelves filled with my favorite pictures, books and mementos.

The wall over my desk changes from time to time. Here it is a collection of book covers and art.

The splash of this water fountain is the most relaxing music I have ever found; it not only lets you dream, it encourages it.

Once in a while there is the additional pleasure of watching our local sand cranes as they stroll across the lawn.

Having Sugar curled under my desk, or sitting in my lap adds the finishing touch to my office.
