A very special BookSparks welcome back to the wonderful Kaira Rouda, author of the Redbook magazine spring book pick The Goodbye Year (SparkPress; May 3, 2016). She is a former newspaper columnist, reporter, contributing magazine editor, and freelance writer for numerous regional and national publications. The Goodbye Year explores high school peer pressure, what it’s like for young people to face the unknown of life after high school, and how a transition that should be the beginning of a couple’s second act together―empty nesting―might possibly be the end.
We are so excited to welcome Kerry Lonsdale to BookSparks with her debut book Everything We Keep (Lake Union Publishing; August 1, 2016). Kerry believes life is more exciting with twists and turns, which may be why she enjoys dropping her characters into unexpected scenarios and foreign settings. Along with her literary writing skills, Kerry is the founder of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, an online community of authors from across the globe.
Mary Dingee Fillmore joins BookSparks with her first novel release, An Address in Amsterdam (She Writes Press; October 4, 2016). In the story, Mary uses her years researching the Holocaust and resistance in the Netherlands to tell the story of Rachel Klein in 1940s Amsterdam. It’s a story of finding courage in even the most hopeless situations.
We are delighted to welcome Roni Beth Tower to BookSparks with her memoir Miracle at Midlife (She Writes Press; October 25, 2016). An Akron, Ohio native, Roni is an alumni of both Barnard College and Yale University where she majored in religion and clinical psychology. Roni hopes that the story of her intense and transformative transatlantic courtship will help others to realize that love certainly is real.
We are so excited to welcome Mindy Tarquini as one of our newest clients this spring. Mindy is a Phoenix resident, an assistant editor with the Lascaux Review and a member of the Perley Station Writers’ Colony. Her debut novel Hindsight (SparkPress; November 8, 2016) centers around main character Eugenia’s ability to remember all her past lives and her struggle to not complicate her future.
Cathryn Novak joins BookSparks with her first published novel Size Matters (She Writes Press; November 22, 2016), all about a love of food, musical comedy and tea. A U.C. Berkeley alum, Cathryn prides herself on her past work as a speech writer, policy analyst, and investigative report writer for Los Angeles Police Commission, where her monograph, The Years of Controversy, was published by the Police Foundation in Washington, D.C.
Please welcome Amie Borst, author of the Scarily Ever Laughter series, to BookSparks with her newest book, Snow Fright (Jolly Fish Press; October 1, 2016). Amie’s stories are classic fairy tales told with a twist, but the biggest twist of all is that she co-writes all of her books with her daughter Bethanie Borst. We are so excited to have this highly imaginative author as one of our newest clients!
Welcome to BookSparks, Ginger McKnight Chavers! Her debut novel, In the Heart of Texas (She Writes Press; Oct. 25, 2016) tells the story of soap star Jo Randolph who returns to Texas after accidentally burning down her lover/director’s beach house. While there, she begins to reconnect with her roots and her true self. Ginger currently blogs for The Huffington Post and The TexPatch, and she lives in Westchester County, New York, with her husband, daughter, and an overweight West Highland White Terrier.
Marianne Lile joins BookSparks with her upcoming memoir, Stepmother (She Writes Press; Sept. 27, 2016). In the book, Lile describes the complexities of the stepmom position, in a family and in the community, and shares her experience wearing a tag that is often misunderstood and weighed down by the numerous myths in society.
