The Inklings

Growing up I was shaped by my parent’s reading lists that including the works of the Inklings, an Oxford literary group of which C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien were members.  My mind was fed and formed based on reading the lion the witch and the wardrobe, lord of the rings, and many other works.

Marguerite Duras

As a teenager, when I discovered the work of Marguerite Durras, The Lover captivated me.  I couldn’t stop loving her story.

Dr. Grantly Dick-Read

During my pregnancy I devoured Dr. Grantly Dick Read’s book Childbirth Without Fear. A story that changed my views on labor, and in many ways inspired my story.  He is known as the father of the natural childbirth movement.

Eric Redman

The Dance of Legislation gave me insight in to the process of how the world works in a way that may have influenced my writing the most.

Sylvia Plath

I read The Bell Jar after my first experiences with mental illness. The Stories of Sylvia Plath resonated in a deep way, and the beauty of her prose inspired me to keep rewriting.
