For this week’s edition of Inspired By, we are featuring one of our wonderful interns, Morgan Rath.  Morgan is a sophomore at Arizona State University studying Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism as a Barret Honors Student.  Here are five of Morgans favorite books that inspire her most:

 

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Hazel has been graced by a tumor -shrinking medical miracle, and has been anything but terminal in her final chapter upon diagnosis.  When Augustus suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, and Hazel’s story is rewritten entirely.

The Book Thief  by Markus Zusak

Liesel is a foster girl living outside Munich in 1939 Nazi  Germany.  She begins to steal something she cant resist- books-with the help for her foster father, who also teaches her to read. As she begins to learn to read, Liesel shares stolen books with her neighbors  as well as with the Jewish man her family is secretly hiding in the basement.

The Perks Of Being a Wall Flower by Stephen Chbosky

Charlie is a shy, introspective and intelligent freshman beyond his years yet socially challenged.  He is a wallflower that who caught between living his life and trying to run from it.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

Ponyboy considers himself a greaser that lives on the outskirts, and is proud of it.  One night, his friend murders someone outside their circle, and the murder gets under his skin causing his world to crumble and teaches him that pain feels the same, regardless of who is involved.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor and Park are two star-crossed misfits who are smart enough to understand that first loves almost never last.  Their love story reminds everyone of their first love.
