We asked Kate some fun questions so you can get to know her better… What inspired her to write Sail Away With Me? How’d she get started writing romance? Read more below…

What inspired you to write Sail Away With Me?

I was inspired to write Sail Away With Me by the many cruises I’ve been on. There’s something just so romantic and intoxicating about life at sea. It seemed the perfect setting for a raunchy tale of love gone wild and the week long cruise provided the perfect backdrop for the antics of a girls’ vacation.

What is your favorite scene from the book?

Oh, that’s a tough one, there are a few scenes I could linger on. I think the phone sex scene has to be one of my favorites, to dream up and then to write. Not only is it a hot scene but there are complex nuances revealed in Jody and Taggart’s love story as they share a very intimate moment (or moments)!

How did you get your start as a writer?

I had always written just for my own enjoyment,t but never really thought of getting published. When I was a wedding planner I wrote for some magazines, mostly non fiction. Then I branched out into writing fiction for publication about ten years ago when I joined Romance Writers of America and started really working on writing that “first book.”

What was the hardest part of writing for you?

Editing has to be the hardest part. I could write and write all day if I I had the time, but editing is not only time consuming, but also the less creative part of the process. It has to be done, to make the writing stronger, but it’s not half as much fun as forging ahead and typing out the next chapter in a great story!

What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview? How would you answer that question?

Good question. No one every asks: “ Were you scared no one would like your first  book?”

Answer: “Of course,” That first book sale is it a heady mix of “Oh My God, I got published!” and “Oh crap, what if no one likes it….”
