In honor of awards season, it’s only right that we celebrate with our very own, first-ever 2016 Golden Globes Sparks Awards. We feel so thankful to work with so many incredibly brilliant authors every day of the year and although all of them are slaying the red carpet and up for nominations, only four will go home with a Golden Spark Award.
Karma Brown is an award-winning journalist and freelance writer, who probably spends too much time on her laptop in coffee shops. When not writing, she can be found running with her husband, coloring (outside the lines) with her daughter, or baking yet another batch of banana muffins. Her bestselling debut novelĀ Come Away with MeĀ isĀ available now (and one of BookSparks Winter Reads)Ā and her second book, The Choices We Make, will be released July 2016, which also isĀ being considered for the BookSparks Summer Reading Challenge. Stay tuned.
Ā Losing the LightĀ by Andrea Dunlop is a smart, obsessive debut novel about a young woman studying abroad who becomes caught up in a seductive French worldāand a complex web of love and lust. Congratulations to Andrea Dunlop, our February Cover Girl, and debut author to fall in love with this winter!
We couldn’t be more thrilled to give Amy Hatvany the Most Under the Radar Golden Spark award. Amy has published 7Ā incredible books that tackle real issues, and her most recent novel, Somewhere Out There, has been selected as a Target Recommended Read. We are so happy she’s chosen BookSparks to help her take it to the next level.
Look. At. That. Cover. How could you not reach for this book on the shelf? Aidan Donnelly Rowley, author of The Ramblers, did an excellent job grabbing the eyes of readers with such a fabulous book cover. From designed graphics leading up to publication to reposting fan pictures on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, this cover has made it’s way all over the world and we can’t stop staring at all of the awesome #bookshelfies. Even early copies of the books went out with a beautiful card featuring the birds of central park – so creative!
