The writing process is a delicate one. As writers, we are constantly caffeinated and connected to our laptops, often forgoing regular sleeping hours for the sake of making deadlines or catering to our most creative writing hours. If anyone is looking for a Writers’ Retreat in 2019, I’m hosting one in Bali January 19-28th! I’ve been searching most of my life for the perfect place in nature to seclude myself and write, and I found the most AMAZING location, in the foothills of Bali’s holiest mountain, where every bungalow has a stunning view into the rice-terraced valley. This writers’ retreat is all about overcoming writers’ block–I’m a writer and editor and also a meditation teacher, so we’ll have 10 days of meditations for creativity, free writing time all day every day, and a group workshop every evening. I’m also providing one-on-one editing sessions, 2 day trips when a change of scenery is needed, 3 meals a day, 2 massages, and tons of other creativity-enhancing activities.
It’s great to see the range of inspirational retreats that are available. I can also highly recommend http://www.italianwritingretreat.org.
It’s led by UK based Glynis Charlton, who is an awesome mentor and writing guide. The retreat is held each September on the tiny Isola Maggiore on the beautiful Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, Italy.
I attended last year’s retreat and found space to think, write and be inspired in the most magical surroundings.
The guidance from Glynis was invaluable and she has a way of helping you step back and think about your work differently, in a good way! As a huge bonus, I met the most wonderful like minded people whose generous sharing and support have also influenced and encouraged me to continue to explore and enjoy my writing.
This was my first retreat in Italy and I loved it from start to finish. I am saving again for this year.
I’d like to share our writers retreat in Kerala South India

In the East, the importance of energy and harmony is celebrated in everything we do, every ritual of daily life. Here at Indian Summer House we embrace this philosophy ā from our early morning yoga to invigorating Ayurvedic treatments and the nutritious food we serve. Within the lush garden surrounds of the private villas and shared spaces, writers can choose a favourite place to write in peace and solitude. Shared writing workshops and individual one-on-one sessions will help unlock sticking points, remove some of the fog and help you refine your story. Our writers, with extensive experience in mentoring and tutoring, publishing and editing, will provide writing exercises to suit your needs.
Reading sessions with light refreshments around the pool, under the cooling fans in the coconut lounge or luxurious salon will provide a supportive environment for you to share your work with other writers encouraging conversation and feedback.
From the moment you arrive at Indian Summer House you will be immersed in a supportive environment of like-minded people taking time out to focus on all that we love about writing and story-telling. Mornings will be dedicated to your own writing time. Writing workshops, local tours, village walks are all optional while one-one-one consultations about your project are available throughout your stay.
