1. The smell of espresso

Bella’s Bookshelf fell in love with Fleur Philips’ novel saying. “I feel Crumble is meant to teach us. It certainly makes you look at yourself and question your own beliefs. It reminds me of espresso, a very strong drink in a very small cup. That’s the impact Crumble and its characters had on me.”

2. In your opinion…

There were a lot of good responses to our Emma’s Secret-themed question, which was “Have you ever found something important you thought you’d lost?” Our favorite was from Julie Petrillo Figueroa, who shared her story of losing one of her most precious possessions.

3. A sneak peek at next week’s book

Summertime is ideal for touring our nation’s capital. Who needs the Metro? We’ll stroll the National Mall with stops at The Smithsonian, Lincoln Memorial and Museum of Air & Space. If we’re not too tired, we’ll climb the 800+ steps to the top of the Washington Monument and read Kathleen Shoop’s Love and Other Subjects.

4. Look who’s coming to the party

We love when new people join the party. This week Christy Lewis has joined the 2013 Summer Reading Challenge!

5. BookSparksPR Swag

Don’t forget, Sparks, join in the conversation and tag @BookSparksPR, use #SRC2013, post on the official Facebook event page and be entered to win great prizes all summer long! Each Wednesday we post a new question (This Week’s Question) and announce winners on Friday.

6. A book that will break your diet

Emma’s Secret offers hope and forgiveness, but shows that such things are not without price. Highly recommended, even though Megan has ruined my diet by her constant eating of chocolate croissants and homemade cinnamon rolls, baked by her close friend, which made me hungry.”—5 Minutes for Books
