BookSparksPR has made a move. Recently we said goodbye to our local office in Chandler and moved in with Crystal. Her family room has been transported into a public relations haven. Though it may seem like a small space for three employees, four computers, two desks, a couch, a bookshelf and hundreds of novels we had a little help in the design.
A fantastic article on Inc.com gave us great tips on how to design a cool office space and it can help you create your ideal work environment too. Here are a few tips they offer.
Use Light and Space Efficiently
Try and get as much exposure to natural light as possible, it saves energy costs and creates a warm environment. BookSparksPR’s new office is situated close to a pair of sliding doors and keeps us from getting that claustrophobic, cubicle feel.
The article also suggests using built-in desks and bookshelves to open up floor space. Thanks to Ikea, we have a fantastic duel desk set up that includes a bookshelf… now that is efficiency at its best.
Express Yourself
Make sure your office space speaks to who you are as a company. Paperclips and pencil jars are nice, but add a little flare. Being surrounded by our favorite books, while promoting books gives us a nice balance between what we love and what we do.
Cool Doesn’t Mean Costly
The article suggests that you start with lighting, because it’s cheap. Also, do not underestimate your own crafty skills. Try making some interesting pieces for your office.
